Experimenting, pasting, mashing

Here's a little view of something I've been experimenting
with.
Combining old Indian folklore comic books with halftones,
removing them from their inherent context's.

Maybe I'll expand on this one with my own illustrations.

Recently I attended an amazing solo show by Gemma Compton, illustrator, painter & Designer.

A really cool mix of contemporary female iconogrpahy teamed with a quintessentially British attitude. Mixing media with found objects its a beautifully cohesive show.

A little preview of something New...

I was cleaning up some sketches and was playing around in the Old Pshop last night and just randomly came out with this little piece.

However the figure is gona be part of a larger group that is going to end up looking completely differnt to this .

Looking at mixing some media too with the final outcome of this also,

Elegant Humour......

I really am in awe of Walton Ford's watercolours, they're just so beautiful.
The skill of rendering fur and feathers is amazing, not to mention the sheer size of his works.

They look like Victorian Zoological illustrations on first glance but reveal allot more on closer inspection.
The obvious humour he injects into his work makes it all the more special and unique.

Okay so maybe you've seen the poodle aerobic workout video?!

But I love Nagi Nodas Hair sculptures, Wearable art? yes!
I think everyone should have one in their wardrobe.
The amazing designs range from animal heads to entire scenes.

Sadly she's no longer with us; but her work still gives inspiration posthumously.

Our lil city...

Okay so Bristol (UK) is a pretty cool place to be, lots going on all the time.

What with the success of the Banksy Show at our city Museum, the ever innovative team there have done an amazing job to bring us "Art from the new world" .
A show of contemporary art from our brothers in paint & other media from across the pond.
Showcasing some well known and soon to be names, like Mark Ryden & Luke Chueh.

I went the day it opened and was really impressed and inspired by what is saw ;)

Okay so i came across some amazing work by Angela Singer the other day and it reminded me of a very good friend of mine.
Has lashings of old Victoriana about it with a funky twist.
